Dog of the Year Award
Dear SACCI membership
It has come to me, to notify you, of an issue with The Dog of the Year Award. In January of this year, the UKC and AKC posted their end of year points totals. After reaching out to membership for dog names and any added points, the awards were posted using the points available. The awards were announced the second week of February. The point’s difference between first and second place dog were in the single digits. The very next week, the AKC, to everyone’s surprise, fixed a clerical error that had led to the second place spot for the Top Dog of the Year Award.
Then quandary for the club was obviously immediate. The award was given in an appropriate fashion, but yet, in a surprising move the AKC not only accepted their mistake, but also corrected it.
This leads me to a proud moment in the Corso world. The owners and SACCI members of the two dogs’ in question, for the good of the club, and the breed, decided to share the award. The board, by unanimous vote, accepted this. These two members, Jamie Brasier and Jimmy Stanchio, showed true sportsmanship and class, and are both the SACCI owners of the Dog of the Year Award. Congratulations GCH Massimo Di Pharaoh and GCH Capri D'Jango.
